Mrs. Hunter

Hello My Name Is...

Jennifer Hunter

Mrs. Hunter

Welcome to My Classroom.  This is my 18th year teaching in Kannapolis City Schools. I have experience in third, fourth, and fifth grades.  I believe together we can make sure that your child will fall in love with learning. Feel free to contact me by email at, by school phone at (704) 933-2831, or through the class dojo messenger.

College(s) Attended/Degrees Earned:
Indiana University of Pennsylvania - Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education

Educational Philosophy/Vision:
I truly believe in a partnership between parents, teachers, and students.  Your child’s education is like a puzzle and everyone has to put their pieces in to achieve the complete picture.  Each child is a unique learner, but together we will help them to achieve.

Things parents/guardians can do to help: Anytime that you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me and we will work together for the best of your child.  Email is the fastest and best way to get in touch with me.  The voicemail in my room is not always reliable.  Again, feel free to contact me by email at school phone at (704) 933-2831.

SIGN UP FOR A CLASS DOJO ACCOUNT -- and check it regularly!!  A Classdojo account is free and can be accessed from a computer, tablet, or smart phone.  This is the number one way that I communicate with parents, including behavior (good and bad), announcements, etc.   If you have used classdojo previously you do not need a new account - just a new access code.  You can also link multiple students to one parent dojo account.

School Agendas:  Every day, students will write down any homework or notes that you may need to know.  My initials will be in the agenda indicating that everything is written down.  I may also write notes to you if I need to communicate with you directly.  I ask that you look at your child's agenda nightly and talk about your child's day with them.  Please initial the agenda nightly.  This will help to build their responsibility.

Nightly Reading: This year your child will have a nightly reading log to complete at home.  Reading is a passion of mine and we incorporate reading into most of our day.  This year I hope to spark a LOVE of reading in your child.  Reading is a HUGE part of third grade - we transition from learning to read to reading to learn!!
** To help encourage reluctant readers you could read with your child or encourage them to listen to an audio book or read a book along with an audio recording.  There are many titles available at the Cabarrus County Library - including higher level chapter books.**

Online Resources:

Math Practice - - this site allows your child to practice math skills on their level.  They will receive a log in and password and school code shortly.  This is also available as an app to use on tablet devices.

Math and Reading practice - - this site allows for math and reading practice.  Students are set up with math and reading practice.

Classroom behavior and communication - - this is the program that I use for classroom behavior.  It also allows me to communicate with parents as a class or one on one with a messaging feature.
