Grading System

Kannapolis City Schools uses Standards Based Grades:

E (Exceeding Expectations):  This grade is only given when a child consistently, accurately and independently  applies what is learned in a new fashion so it is extremely rare to see this score during the school year.

M (Meeting Expectations): Your child will receive this score when s/he consistently and accurately completes all activities without assistance.

(Progressing towards Expectations):  Most students will receive this score because it indicates that a student is learning and practicing new concepts but has not yet been consistent in showing mastery independently

(Lack of Progress):  This score indicates that your child is not grasping the basic concepts even with assistance.  You should be concerned if you see this score and should seek additional interventions for your child in order to help her/him progress adequately.
