Educational Philosophy/Vision:
I believe that in today's world, technology is a critical life skill.  We need our students to graduate with a firm understanding of how to access knowledge and adapt to changing job requirements.

Things parents/guardians can do to help:

  • Be aware of what your child is doing online.  This age student want's to grow up quickly and often want to sign up for sites that require that they be 13 years old.
  • Netsmartz has a great site that focuses on Internet Safety.  Here's the Parent's Page.
  • Elementary school students are just learning HOW to research.  They don't always know what to search for and they expect the answer to question 1 to be in the first paragraph of the first site.  Helping them learn how to find information, even if it isn't a school related topic, will help them a lot with efficient and appropriate searching.
  • If you do not have a computer at home, Kannapolis City Library is a great place to take your child to use the computers free of charge. Check out the JP Symbaloo link on the left side of this page for some great educational sites.
